Why Rose Valley Can Be Bengal’s Next Big Investment Fraud?

The chit fund scam of Saradha group of industries has raised thousands of Bengal’s investors who have invested their money on similar budding companies of Bengal from slumber. They have started queuing in front of the offices of such promising companies for liquidating their chit fund investments before maturity. However, the investors have been denied cash payment. Instead, they were given written assurance that their hard earned money is in safe hands and will be given back to them in due course of time, thereby causing the investors to lose their faith on such companies.

Sudipta Sen, CMD of Saradha Group

Rose Valley is one of the top five companies of Bengal that is under the strict scan of SEBI or the Securities and Exchange Board of India for similar cause as that of Saradha group. As a matter of fact, Rose Valley’s stakes in West Bengal is about four times more than that of Saradha group and if the assumptions of the market regulating board of India, SEBI turns out to be true, then Bengal’s economy as a whole will be hard hit. It will result in robbing off the savings of millions of hard working and innocent investors of Bengal.

SEBI has confirmed the fact that Rose Valley controls two investment companies under its banner and these two investment firms have collected as much as INR 4000 crores from investors all around Bengal. Though SEBI had issued preventive order against Rose Valley in 2011, but this organization has contested such restrictions on court and used different kinds of delaying tricks to stop SEBI from further investigation and in the meantime it has continued with its campaign of raising more investment from depositors. According to the investigators of SEBI, the real estate and construction division of Rose Valley could raise as much as 1270 crores from the market, whereas its entertainment and hotels division raised about 2900 crores.

In the month of March 2013, SEBI had even penalized Rose Valley with a penalty of 1 crore and filed an FIR against its officials due to their illegal practices. It had been probing about the fraud chit fund schemes going on in West Bengal for quite some time. As the market regulating body was aware of such fraud practices going on in the state, it has been persistently caveating the general public as well as the state government about the fraud schemes of the multi-functional business houses of Bengal through different media like newspaper advertisements and requesting the investors to take informed decision with their hard earned money.

The Chief Minister was also notified by SEBI about the fraudulent chit fund scheme going on in the state about two months back. However, she has not informed the media about the organization that was practicing it.

Rose Valley is under the scanner of the regulatory board right now and if the hypotheses of the authorities of the SEBI turn out to be true, then millions of Bengal’s investors are going to suffer. The investors have already started showing their discontentment by ransacking Rose Valley’s office in Kolkata yesterday. The who’s who of the organization has requested the investors to keep faith in them through an advertisement in the newspaper. However, report of the market regulating body is compelling the investors to lose their cool.

RIP is no more Rest in Peace, Its now Raped in Public

“Kapde Nehi Soch Badlo” that’s what’s the young marchers protesting against the Delhi gang rape case tried to convey to the cold shouldered who’s who of the nation peacefully. But unfortunately they were received by water canons and a bit of thrashing. Their demand before the governing bodies was to make amendments whereby in the future course of time culprits committing such heinous crime should be given capital punishments. Sadly, the politicians of the “so called democratic nation” replied back that they are extremely sorry and ensured that the offenders in this case will receive the “maximum punishments”.

crying_girl

A twenty three year old innocent girl was gang raped and brutally assaulted in the capital of the nation and after struggling for her life for some days she could bear no more. Ironically, the initial reaction of the authorities to such a ghastly incident was: the attires of the girls are the main reason behind such crime, girls should not go out in the night in the first place, glasses of the public transport should be transparent and alike. But the authorities are not ready to take the responsibility of ensuring safety and security to the citizens.

The Constitution of India guarantees ‘Right to life’ to all citizens. So the question is: Isn’t this clause equally applicable for the women as well? Aren’t they allowed to enjoy equal rights as that of others? Why are they asked to compromise with the kind of attire they wear or the time they should hang out? Aren’t the governing bodies competent enough to ensure the safety and security of all citizens of the nation? If yes, so from where does the question of inappropriate dressing sense or lifestyle of ‘only the girl’ arises? Are we demanding too much from the authorities of this nation?

The fact is that ‘respect for the womenfolk’ is largely missing and which is the primary cause behind the degrading social scenario of the nation as well as the increasing crime rate. Women are never being treated as equal or competent enough to contend with the opposite gender. In our ‘so called democratic nation’ they are being treated as one class of people who have no right to voice their opinion but oblige under every circumstance. These constructs not only dominate the thoughts of the common people but also the authorities of the nation as is evident from their remarks.

Amazing line said by “parineeti chopra” in her press conference – “The problem is “Man” hence men should not be allowed to go out of home after 9 PM and not us !!!!!”

First and foremost, the citizens of the nation need to change their attitude towards the womenfolk and learn to respect them. A girl child is still regarded as a burden in most Indian household. From the very childhood they are being taught to oblige to the irrational and biased decisions of the opposite sex. And in case you try to voice your opinion, you will be punished for your behavior and tagged as being a ‘modern’ girl who should learn to behave in the appropriate manner.

However, the men who actually commit such heinous crime are hardly held responsible for their act. In most cases it can be seen that the men who commits such crime were drunk. But have the authorities put any restriction on the sale of alcohol or taken any other measure to stop such incidents? The answer is no. On the contrary, the girls are asked to be cautious, to restrict the hours of their movement or take similar measures. Who knows in the future course of time, they might be even asked to cover themselves up while moving around to avoid such incidents. However, the authorities who have been entrusted with the duty of protecting us are not yet prepared to perform their duty ‘responsibly’.

Mamta Banerjee Proves To Be A Chief Minister With No Morals

Kolkata has let down the common belief that it is a safer city for women, when compared to the other metro cities like Delhi or Mumbai. On the 5th of February, 2012, a 37-year old mother of two was raped in a car, which had pretended to give her a lift till her Behala residence. The victim was partying at a famous Park Street pub, where a man befriended her and even offered her a lift in his Honda City. The owner of the car was joined by five other men and the woman was raped at gunpoint.

The victim lodged an FIR with the Park Street police on the 9th of February, giving rise to speculations as to why she was late in filing a complaint against the accused. One of the accused was identified as Lavi Gidwani, and all others are believed to be married, and having their own well-settled business.

The victim of the rape incident has alleged that the police had made a mockery of her when she had tried to make a complaint, pointing at her integrity because of the fact that she was present at a ‘pub’.

While all this was taking place, there was someone who was also being accused for not giving proper attention to the matter. This accused is our very own Chief Minister Mamta Banerjee, who claimed that the woman was fabricating stories to put a stigma on her Government and that this case should be dismissed. This comment gave rise to a lot of debate regarding her insensitivity towards the rape victim.

It was later found that the accused people had misused the identity of other people whom the woman knew as former associates, and that the names which the victim had mentioned were not guilty.

This incident brings to light the feelings which our CM Mamta Banerjee harbours for victims like the woman under question. She has been seen to be more bothered about the image of her Government, rather than looking into the plight of the victim. The Opposition Government has also slapped charges on her, for being immoral and unethical.

The public is of the view that Mamta Banerjee should be arrested because she is posing to be a danger for women, who might be victims of the rapists, but will not receive any support from the CM, who herself is a woman.

Ponting Getting Dropped from Aussie ODI Squad Brings an End of a Limited Overs Batting Legend

It seems that former Australian skipper Ricky Ponting’s ODI career in Australian cricket is almost over now. Given the news that he was dropped from the team squad for the next two matches to be played in the current tri-series with India and Sri Lanka, this is what we can all conclude!

The 37-year old player has been out of form for quite some time, having scored a mere 18 runs in five innings, with an average of just 3.6 runs. Moreover, the poor performance against India in the match at Gabba added to the string of failures. This made the selection committee to drop him from the team for the next two matches, and instead bring back injured players like Shane Watson, Michael Clarke and Ryan Harris to play.

John Inverarity, chairman of the selection committee said, “He (Ponting) has been dropped from the squad because of his poor performance and lack of form in the matches of the Commonwealth Bank Series till the ongoing tri-series.”

One cannot forget the brilliant performance Ponting has shown in the past. He made his ODI debut in the year 1995 against South Africa, and soon followed with his Test cricket debut in the same year, against Sri Lanka in Perth. He scored a massive 96 runs in the first Test innings. Although Ponting was dropped from the national team many a times before 1999, it was not before the year 2002 that he was made the ODI captain of the team. In 2004, he also became the skipper of the Test team.

Ponting has played over 370 ODIs and has scored more than 13,000 runs, his 164 runs against South Africa being the highest. He has successfully led the Australian team to 162 victories as the ODI captain, and won the World Cup twice in his captaincy span. There are several other records to his credit, such as the most ODI runs by an Australian, most ODI fifties by an Australian, most centuries in World Cups, and so on.

Despite such a fantastic past record, his performance has been declining in the last few years, resulting in his drop-out from the squad for the tri-series. John Inverarity further adds, “His records speak for him. He has been a truly great performer in the history of Australian limited overs batting. But it is inevitable that one has to move on from the omission of outstanding players.”
