Get yourself geared up for the most awaited ramp walk of the season to be held at ITC Sonar Bangla from September 9-13 where India’s best fashion designers will once again showcase their creativity. The organizers announced today that the fashion extravaganza will open with the collections of Ritu Kumar and will bring down the curtains with Manish Malhotra’s designs.
The whole event is organized and maintained by Mindscapes Maestros and Sports Management. Yudhajit Dutta, the MD of the event management company said that “There will be all in total 36 shows on the summer spring collection. The city will witness the best 20 designers from the country on one platform
The United Nations food and agricultural organization has declared 2009 as the International Year of Natural Fibre, the theme of the show is “Earth Couture”, India’s ethnic roots.
Let me bring to you the glimpse of the fashion designers who are participating in this gala week with their show timings and days of the show.
Ritu Kumar
Day 1, 3 PM
“I am feeling at top of the world for opening Kolkata Fashion Week because it is a home coming for me“, said Ritu Kumar in the press conference held yesterday. Her collection this time will be totally Calcutta Specific. We can expect to see her collections of khadi, zardosis and phulkari this time rather seeing her younger brand label. Ritu Kumar is still considered as the briadal queen on India.

Wendell Rodricks
Day 1, 9 PM
The designer from Goa this time bringing his Earth Goddess collection. That will include Coarse handspun cotton, viscose jersey and silk and colours of nature like white, olive green and dusty colours. “I have created the silhouettes and styles that worshio the Earth Godess,” Wendell said.

Mandira Wirk
Day 4, 3 PM
“Though I have played enough with silhouttes and shapes, this time I will present infront of the audience my signature demure drapes,” said Mandira. The Delhi based designer after an amazing performance at the Chivas show is back in kolkata with a bang.
Narendra Kumar
Day 5, 6 PM
Narendra Kumar’s KFW collection will see Japaneese meeting the Edwardian style. He will be showcasing both womens wear and menswear this time as he did last year in Mumbai. His color palette comprises of three colors including black, rust and beige. “There will great construction in the color combination this time”, said Narendra (better called as Nari)
Zubair Kirmani
Day 1, 6 PM
He had an amazing time at KFW last year and so he decided to bring back his womneswear and menswear collection infront of the audience of Kolkata in his simplistic style. The audience will witness new designs of mens jacket this time from Zubair. Fir ger there will be dresses, skirts, t shirts, tops etc. “Unlike the last season I will show people different forms of colour,” added the designer from Kasmir.
Neeta Lulla
Day 3, 7:30 PM
The designer who has already earned loads of fame in bollywood from Chandini to Jodha Akbar will make her debut at the Kolkata Fashion Week. “It is bridal but it will be extremely colorful this time,” added Neeta Lulla.

Rocky S
Day 1, 7:30 PM
The star stylist will be showcasing the briadal wear collection this time at KFW season 2. “Saris, Lehngas, churidar kurtas in linen, georgette and plenty of bling will be enhanced by copper and gold embellishments,” said my favorite designer Rocky S.

Satya Paul
Day 4, 6 PM
My collection will be totally in the briadal nature at KFW including the lehngas of madrasi style as well as of Banarasi and Maheswari styles. “All I can say right now that my collection will be unexpected this time with a touch of Satya Paul as usual.“
Anita Dongre
Day 5, 3 PM
Her latest collection, Timeless will be launched at KFW marked by rich textiles, traditional weaves and silk from master weavers. The color pallet will be warm keeping in mind the coming winter season comprising bursts of blu, red, steel grey and black. “Timeless is the celebration of all the things Indian and all the things ageless,” said the designer at the press conference yesterday.
Bibi Russell
Day 2, 6 PM
The designer from Bangladesh is very excited to return back at KFW after an amazing start during the first season. “I want to show the magic, glitter and creativity that lies in the hands of the craftsman” added Bibi. Sarees from her collection will be something to watch out for.
Manish Malhotra
Day 5, 9 PM
The king of fashion industry from bollywood will close the show on the last day with grand finale. His collections this time will be high on red, the traditional bridal colour. Kolkata is best for its craftsmanship and I will be bringing collection in which I am best known for – textures and bling. My clothes will make you feel like a star, I promise you that, said Manish yesterday.

The country’s top model Indrani Sengupta, Sapna Kumar, Joey Matthews, Laksmi Rana etc will be walking down the amp for the best designers of the country this time. 16 new designers will be given chance to prove their creativity this time at KFW.

These are the best designers from the country though few are missing like Ritu Beri, Rohit Bal.. But trust me it doesnt matter at all… Thnx for the comment though..
